Heavy rainfall has flooded Chittagong severely, causing catastrophic damage and loss of life. Thousands of families have been left with nothing, sheltering in makeshift tents with little access to clean water, food or medical care. Hospitals are under water and emergency services are overwhelmed.
Our teams are working round the clock to deliver food parcels, clean drinking water and medicine in and around Chittagong and the low-lying areas of Cox’s Bazar. We need help to reach more families.

Through COVID-19 and the floods our volunteers kept distributing every month, food, blankets, winter clothes and Qurbani meat.
In 2017 more than 370,000 Rohingya refugees crossed into Bangladesh in a matter of weeks. Our teams were on the ground in the border regions of Cox’s Bazar from October that year.
The clinic now has 15 beds and extensive medical facilities, with six doctors, including female doctors, working 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Every day 15,000 people were crossing the Naf river into Bangladesh. Unaccompanied children, elderly people and traumatised mothers arrived over hills and rivers with only the clothes on their backs, into overcrowded camps with almost no medical services and little food.

Appalled by the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis, which left tens of thousands dead and over a million homeless, CWTUK appealed for donations. Working with local organisations we helped provide clothing, medicine and non-perishable food for displaced workers and their families, built temporary shelters, and assisted with counselling and health clinics.
CWTUK helped cyclone victims with tin roofing to rebuild their homes, roughly 150 homes were rebuilt in Shoronkhola village, Bagerhat, in partnership with local government and villagers. Alongside the roofing our main aim was income generation: raising money for trolley-carts and village poultry so families could regain their independence.
CWTUK installs tube wells in villages across Bangladesh so people have access to clean drinking water. We estimate at least 500 villagers use our tube wells every day.
CWTUK rehoused a family of nine in Kadalpur, Chittagong. The project was challenging from the outset, we had to account for a disabled family member and rebuild the former mud house as a stable single-storey brick building.
CWTUK supports over-50s with a weekly luncheon and medical facilities. We found many elderly people were left alone without any medical care, so our goal was to provide help and support where we could, achieved in partnership with Latifa Khatun Forkania Madrassa and Orphanage.
CWTUK helps destitute women with marital expenses. These lump-sum payments helped women come off the streets and marry partners of their choosing, giving them stability they could not otherwise afford. Alongside this we partnered with Prothom Alo Sohayak Tohobil to help rehabilitate women who have suffered acid violence.
