Emergency Appeal 2017
At this very moment, hundreds of thousands of desperate Rohingya refugees urgently need your help. Following devastating violence in Rakhine State over the last two weeks,, over 370,000 physically and emotionally exhausted Rohingya refugees have crossed over into Bangladesh in search of safety and security.
Unaccompanied children, elderly people and traumatised mothers are crossing over hills and rivers to escape harrowing violence, leaving behind their burn homes and everything they once knew.
Every day, 15,000 people are now crossing the Naf river into Bangladesh, with over half a million predicted to arrive soon. Living in overcrowded camps, medical services are almost non-existent and food is in short supply. Starving,, ill and with only the clothes on their backs, they urgently need YOUR help.

May 2008 – Burma Cylone Appeal
Appalled by events in Burma in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis which has left tens of thousands dead and over a million homeless and desperately in need of aid, CWTUK is appealing for your generous donations. CWTUK with the help of other local organisations will help in providing clothing, medicine, and non-perishable food for displaced workers and their families, build temporary shelters and assist in providing needed counselling and health clinics.
Feb 2008 – Cyclone Cidr & Flood Relief (Bangladesh)
CWTUK helps Bangladesh cyclone victims with tined roofing to help rebuild their homes. Approximately 150 new homes were rebuilt in Shoronkhola village, Bagherhut in partnership with local government organisations and help from the local villages.
As well as distributing tined roofing, CWTUK’s main objectives are to provide means of income-generation for the cyclone & flood victims. We are achieving this by raising money for ‘trolley-cars’ for stricken families as well as purchasing villages poultry (such as cows and chickens). This gives back independence to the local villages.
This is still an on-going project, CWTUK will be back in Bangladesh in March 2008 to set up families who were also affected along the river banks.
Mar 2007 – Clean Water Project (Bangladesh)
CWTUK installs Tubewells in various villages across Bangladesh to enable villagages to have access to clean drinking water. We estimate that at least 500 villagages use our tubewells daily today!
Feb 2007 – Rehousing Project (Bangladesh)
CWTUK helps to rehouse a family of 9 in Kadalpur, Chittagong. This project was challenging from the outset as we had to consider a disabled person requirements and rebuilt the former mud house into a stable 1-storey brick building.
Apr 2006 – Luncheon Club for Over 50s (Bangladesh)
CWTUK helps over 50s with weekly luncheon with medical facilities. We discovered that many elderly people were left alone without any medical care so our goal was to provide help and support where possible. We achieved this project in partnership with Latifa Khatun Forkania Madrassa and Orphanage.
Jan 2003 – Marriage Project (Bangladesh)
CWTUK helps destitute women with marital expenses. These lumpsum payments helped these women to come off the streets and marry successfully to the partners of their choice so that they could have some stability in life which they could not afford to do otherwise.
In collaboration with this project, CWTUK partnered with Prothom Alo Sohayak Tohobil to help rehabilitate women who have suffered acid violence.
